Newton, KS (Jan 6, 2006)-Tom Adrian, Attorney at Adrian & Pankratz, P.A. in Newton, Kansas recently attended the 40th Annual Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, held in Miami, Florida.
The Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning is the nation’s leading conference for estate planning professionals. It is designed for attorneys, trust officers, accountants, insurance professionals, and financial planners who, through years of experience and practice, are familiar with the principles of estate planning. The week-long program covered the latest developments in estate, gift, income taxation and sophisticated estate planning techniques.
Many people think that estate planning only needs to be done once, but due to ever-changing estate and taxation laws, it is a lifetime process.Joint tenancy, powers of attorney and IRA beneficiary designations don’t always protect assets in the way intended, due to these changes in laws.If your estate plan was written before 2001, it is important to have it reviewed so that you can be sure your finances will be handled the way you planned in case of your death.
Mr. Adrian has been a licensed attorney since 1972 and has been practicing law in Newton since that time. His legal practice is located in the law offices of Adrian & Pankratz, P.A., 301 North Main, Suite 400, Newton.
